Why We Need Better Than POLITICS As Usual?

By Richard Brody  |   Submitted On June 26, 2020

We should have been prepared, when, then – candidate, Donald Trump, resorted to the campaign slogan, Make America Great Again! That reference to the so – called, Good Old Days, and, the inference, this nation, was no longer great, indicated a lack – of – vision, and, instead of looking ahead, with relevant, sustainable solutions, and a willingness to accept, good – enough! If, we continue to elect politicians, who resort to a combination of populism, empty promises, and rhetoric/ vitriol, when what’s needed, is thinking, outside – the – box, with an open – mind, the future of this country, may be, in – peril! What we need, is far better, than, mere, POLITICS as usual, if, we hope, to become the best, we possibly can, and truly, serve the needs, goals, priorities, perceptions, and best – interests, of all our citizens, and the potential, future challenges! With that in mind, this article will attempt to, briefly, consider, examine, review, and discuss, using the mnemonic approach, what this means and represents, and why it is significant.

Ozark Mist – a short poem

By Ricky D.

Photo by Ian Noble on Unsplash

A cool country morning, the mist hangs in the trees like gossamer webs.

I sip my tea while rocking in my chair on the porch.

I get a whiff of his coffee as he walks out to join me.

We sit in silence and enjoy the fresh morning air,

Sounds of bird songs fill the morning, an insect buzzes near my ear.

A deer runs in the distance, another following.

I look over and smile, I realize this is a good life.

This is our typical morning.

I am happy growing old this way.

You don’t have to be vegan to eat vegan food. In fact, it’s great to try healthy snacks from time to time, especially if your diet mainly consists of meat and fast food. You’ll be surprised at how delicious and fulfilling healthy food can be and if it doesn’t make you change your eating lifestyle altogether, it will help you make more nutritious choices in your diet.

Try these 4 awesome vegan snack recipes:

Quick Cinnamon Apple Chips

What you need:

  • 2 red apples, thinly sliced
  • 2 teaspoons sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

In a bowl, sprinkle apple slices with sugar and cinnamon, tossing to coat fruit evenly. Arrange apples in a baking sheet so that they don’t overlap. Bake in a pre-heated oven (200F) until dried and crisp (but still pliable), about 2 to 3 hours. Serve immediately.

Garlic, Lime and Avocado Hummus
