AP – SUECA, Spain — With more than 3,000 fans cheering, a hulking, black-and-white fighting bull named “Mouse” chased one daredevil runner after another, trying to flip them airborne and skewer them as he did a month ago in a fatal goring that enshrined his reputation as Spain’s most feared and famous beast.
George Stephanopoulos could lose his “Good Morning America” anchor chair within a year to the news reader who towers over him … this according to network sources.
The buzz at ABC is that Josh Elliott — a former ESPN sports anchor who has been the GMA news reader since March — is on the fast track for the anchor seat. Josh filled in on “World News Tonight” last week and network suits are in love with him.
The network will deny it’s contemplating a change, but that’s not what we’re hearing.
The ratings at GMA have actually gone up a bit with George, so why would the network mess with the show? Our sources say the suits think Josh and Robin Roberts have better chemistry and look better together.
Our sources say the buzz is that George could go back to his old job, anchoring “This Week,” especially because execs privately now admit Christiane Amanpour is a disaster as an anchor.
Now why, you ask, do they look better than Robin and George? Robin is 5’10” without heels. Josh is around 6’3.” George is 5’6″ … and a half. There’s a lot of talk at ABC that it just looks awkward when the male anchor is slight and short.
Not that there’s anything wrong with it.
Chaz Bono dancing the Cha Cha on TV … in front of your kids … will NOT make them want to have a sex change — at least according to the American Psychiatric Association.
In a recent article, psychiatrist and former talk show host Dr. Keith Ablow suggested kids could develop Gender Identity Disorder (GID) just from watching Chaz on “Dancing With the Stars.”
John M. Oldham, M.D. — the APA President — acknowledges GID is a psychiatric disorder … but also told TMZ, “There is no evidence that viewing a television game show with a transgender contestant would induce Gender Identity Disorder in young people.”
Wrestling icon Rowdy Roddy Piper says doctors at UCLA are about to slash his neck open and take a hammer and a chisel to his neck bones … after discovering he’s been wrestling with a BROKEN NECK.
57-year-old Piper went to his Twitter and explained he had been experiencing neck pain for quite a while — but didn’t think it was a big deal. In fact, he says he was WRESTLING through the pain for the past couple of months.
But Piper says he got an MRI recently — and when the docs saw the results, they went into “911 mode” — and scheduled a surgery as quickly as they could.
“So just for the record,” Piper explains, “I beat, The Miz, Terry Funk, and 2 others guys with a brokrn neck!!”
Piper says he’s going under the knife in just a few hours — but tells his fans, “There [sic] using all the smarts they have at UCLA. I SAY BRING IT ON! CUT DEEP!!! I’M NOT AFRAID!!”
An obsessed fan who has tried to contact Jessica Simpson for years has taken it to a whole new level — writing a book about their alleged affair … despite the fact that they’ve never met.
Sources close to Simpson tell TMZ they have been dealing with Marce William Burchell, for years. We’re told her security team has a profile on him and they are aware he is now selling a book online.
The 30 page paperback has the catchy title, “The True Story of Jessica Ann Simpson’s 22 month long attempt to seduce a married man- her very Active Super Secret Sex life: True Story Jessica Simpson Seduction of A Married Man (Volume 1)” … and sells on Amazon.com for $29.99.
According to our sources, Burchell had puppies sent to her home when her
beloved Daisy went missing and once got a hold of Jess’ phone number.
His calls and texts forced her to eventually change it.
We contacted Burchell … and part of his 1,732 word response was, “This book was not written to hurt her, but was written as my only way to heal emotionally
from the severe trauma and pain she put me through by her heartless cruel treatment of me.”
Burchell also wants to challenge Jess’ fiance Eric Johnson to a marathon — winner gets to marry Jessica.
We’re told Jessica has not contacted police … yet. Her reps had no comment.
Filed under: Sam Poueu, Biggest Loser
The “Biggest Loser” contestant who was seriously injured after he plummeted several stories from a building last week was trying to climb down a fire escape when he slipped and fell … this according to his fiancee.
TMZ broke the story, Season 9 competitor Sam Poueu was listed in critical condition after the Sept. 3 incident … and now fiancee Stephanie Anderson told People.com the whole thing happened because he got locked out on the roof of his friend’s apartment.
It all went down in San Francisco, as Poueu was celebrating a friend’s birthday — when he went up to the roof by himself and the door locked behind him.
Anderson says Poueu “attempted to climb down the fire escape ladder to drop down into the fourth floor balcony and slipped.”
As we first reported, Poueu suffered a pelvic injury, torn ligaments, a punctured lung, and a broken leg during the accident … but Anderson says he’s making “positive and encouraging strides” in his recovery … adding, “To date, many of his internal injuries are on the healing mend.”
Judges on the show bring on guests to help them decide which contestants to mentor — and Antonio “L.A.” Reid, who signed Rihanna back in 2005, will bring her on board to help him decide.
According to our sources … RiRi loved doing the U.K. finale last year, and the feeling from Simon was obviously mutual.
The 84-year-old woman who hit Reese Witherspoon with her car says she feels awful about the situation … but also thinks there’s a big problem with the intersection where the accident happened.
According to a family member, the woman thinks the Santa Monica corner is especially dangerous because there’s a large tree blocking sight lines for drivers.
We’re also told she was very shaken up by the accident — and had no idea she had hit an Oscar winner when it all went down.
The family member says the woman has stayed off the road since the accident. The citation she received requires her to retake her driving test. She plans to do so as early as today … and is due in court October 7.
