OMG! Did your Zune lock up in the event that some are labeling “Z2K”. The model affected was the Zune 30, which includes a 30-gigabyte hard drive and was first released back in November 2006, and it is still being sold. (I am sure there is a recall order on it now.)
Why did this happen? Well according to the people over at Microsoft they forgot to compensate for leap years when writing the driver software! So their solution is to just wait until January 1st and it should start working again.
Here is the post from the Official Zune Support Forum:
"By tomorrow you should allow the battery to fully run out of power before the unit can restart successfully then simply ensure that your device is recharged, then turn it back on."
